How do I change the white background to another colour in Outlook

I want to change the default white background in the "Inbox" view of Outlook
and on mails in by inboxes to something less gleary...anyone know if this is
possible or how to do it? To avoid confusion I am not talking about the
stationary picker.

It is possible to change the color, but it will change the default color to
all you other apps. Check this article in Microsoft Knowledgebase KB310543,
for step on hot to do this.
