If I understand you correctly, you are trying to record sounds, and perhaps
have multiple inputs and you would like to choose the right one... is that
right?
Go to Start - Settings - Control Panel - Sounds and Audio Devices. Go to the
Audio Tab. Here you can choose and set default devices for Recording and
Playback. Depending on your setup, and the programs you use, you might have
to set the record device in the program itself.
For instance, I have an Echo Gina 24/96 audio card, a regular sound blaster
card, and the Soundmax Integrated one built into my Dell Precision (so I
have 3 stereo input sources to choose from - and 4 stereo digital sources).
If I make a change in the Sound and Audio Devices Properties box, it only
seems to affect Windows applications - like Windows Media Player. If I'm in
Sonar, or Pro Tools, etc., I have to choose the sound input from there - it
overrides whatever I choose in the Device properties. Check the
documentation from whatever program you're trying to use.
I hope this helps. Post back if I'm on the wrong track.
