I have an older Windows computer with Powerpoint. The older system is
Windows 95 with I believe Powerpoint 7.0 for Windows 95.
Until today I have been able to open on my newer machine those Powerpoint
files that were created on the old machine without any problems.
My newer system I’ve had for about 18 months and it is a Windows XP and the
Powerpoint is from the Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003.
When I attempt to open a file created on the older machine it fails to open
and I get the following message.
You are attempting to open a file type that is blocked by your registry
policy setting
I have tried two things:
1) I used the Detect and Repair feature on the Microsoft product. This
didn’t fix the problem.
2) I reinstalled Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition 2003.
How do I fix this problem?
