Nothing is the same, I can't find anything in Vista. I have a nice picture as
my walpaper but the font under my icons is white and I can hardly see it, how
do I change it?

Type Start, Help and Support. Then in the search box type in "Change Windows
Fonts". Follow the instructions.

I couldn't change the color but I bolded it ... that helped. I'll also try
the link; thanks.

Hi - I am trying to get the icon font color to black. I set the background to
a light solid color. it did change to black. Then I went back to change to my
light wallpaper and it switched back. I must have missed a step.

Please advise! Thanks.

Thanks... However, am using a light wallpaper and the font is still white. I
guess Microsoft thinks it is not light, right?

I tried a 3rd party program recommended here earlier, but it did not change
the font color for me.

Thanks for trying to help.

I'm sorry. Debbie. but there is just no way to help you, other than
telling you to use an even-darker desktop background, or use a much
lighter desktop background.

It used to be possible to do this.  That pretty much changed with the
release of XP, and has been much the same since.

****  UPDATE!!!  ****

I just found a utility which does EXACTLY what you want to do:
"12Ghosts", from here:http://www.12ghosts.com/download/index.htm

Download the LATEST version, (9.0)

The "SetColor" utility in this package will do your desktopicontextcolorchanges.

Additionally, it does other things to make your Desktop experience
better.

NOTE that the full package is very complicated, so I would just
download the utility you need.

Please reply to the correct thread and article.
================================================

For Vista users with a background image i suggest choosing your
intended background colour similar to your image, then go to the most
contrasting colour as a desktop background. Now reselect your image as
the background. Now you should have a contrasting text/background
image. Obviously if you really wanted a black solid background and
black text this is also possible by creating a black background image
and using that rather than a 'solid background' colour.

I want to make the font under the icons larger and bold? How to do
that??
I cant find this option.

You sure can.

Direct way:

Right-click on a blank area of the Desktop and select "Personalize" > click
on "Windows Color and Appearance" > click on "Open classic appearance
properties for more color options" > click the "Adavanced" button > iun the
drop down list select "Icon" > you then adjust the font and fonst size >
click any OKs

Note: Some people want the whole Windows system to show slightly larger
without changing the monitor's screen resolution. The way to do this is to
adjust the dpi of the system from 96 to 120 - it will require a reboot. You
find the adjustment for dpi here:

Right-click on a blank area of the Desktop and select "Personalize" > click
on "Windows Color and Appearance" > look to the left and click on "Adjust
font size (DPI)" > select the "Large scale (120 DPI) - make text more
readable" radio button > click any OKs and reboot the system.

Yes. On the same property sheet you changed the size of the font, there
should be a button marked "B". If it is not greyed out then you can click it
to make the font bold.

Do you mean the sheet about change DPI?? There is no Bold button.

No. I meant the one called "Advanced Appearance":

Right-click on a blank area of the Desktop and select "Personalize" > click
on "Windows Color and Appearance" > click on "Open classic appearance
properties for more color options" > click the "Adavanced" button > in the
drop down list select "Icon" > you then adjust the font and font size and
whether the font is bold or italic > click any OKs

DPI is different thing which affects the appearance of all fonts and the
rendering of the Windows to some extent, making everything appear larger if
you select 120 or smaller if the default 96 dpi. Adjusting the DPI up to 120
from the default is a way to get things looking a bit bigger without
changing the screen resolution. As I said before, adjusting the DPI requires
a reboot. Often older people like the 120 dpi setting, especially with LCD
monitors which look clear and sharp at only one screen resolution. If after
making the icon fonts bigger and bolder you find you still want things to
appear even bigger overall, try adjusting the DPI.

'Hope this helps, there's not much more I can say.
