Need to change address book to use as e-mail address book but the box is
grayed out. How can I do this?

Clarify your post please. The Outlook Address Book only displays electronic
addresses, so your post makes no sense. Include your Outlook version when
you do.

Excuse me for "making no sense" I will try to clarify question. In Outlook
2000 when I go into properties for the Contacts folder then to Outlook
Address Book tab I need to check the box stating "show this folder as an
e-mail address book" but it is "grayed out." I don't know where I need to go
in Outlook to make a change so that the box to check is available. Thank you
for your time.

Outlook 2000 has 2 completely different versions. For the sake of this
discussion, I'll assume you are using Corp/Workgroup mode.
If so, you need to add the Outlook Address Book Service to your profile. Go
to Tools > Services. Make sure the Outlook Address Book service is listed.
If that is not your version, then continue to clarify your post.
