If the piece can have it's colors changed (not all can), select the piece,
right click and go to Format Picture. (The dialog that comes up should show
the picture tab.) Click the Recolor... button. If you can't recolor the
element, you will get a message that the object is a bitmap. If you don't
get the message, you will get the Recolor dialog box. Select "Fills" instead
of "Colors" and change the color you want.
If your element is a bit map, you will need to change the colors in a
graphics program instead of PPT.
