Set your default browser to that "something else".

I did. That's the first thing I thought of. Still doesn't work. In addition,
when I click on a link in Outlook Express, IE7 loads the link, whereas
before I deleted the "something else" and reinstalled it, a link in OE would
open in my "something else."

That is a URL to a web page. It is *not* a URL to a file. So what was
it that you really wanted to do? Obviously a web browser gets used to
display a web page. Is it that you want some other web browser than IE
to load the web page? Or was there a file on that web page that you
wanted to download and then view?

That's exactly it. I want the link to load in FF. In addition, previously a
link in Outlook Express would load in FF but now it insists on loading in
IE7. One of the reasons why I have opted to avoid IE7, apart from
vulnerability, is its insistence on taking control of my system.

I had a similar problem after installing FF3. I set it as my default
browser, but clicked links still opened in Mozilla Suite. Someone
suggested that I set IE as my default browser and close it, then open
FF3 and then set IT as the default. Worked great! Haven't had any
problems since.

Wow. Easy solution! It worked! Thanks a lot!
