How do I buy an oem copy legally

....They are not intended for distribution to end users unless the end user
is assembling his/her own machine.

So that my questions. How do I buy that copy.

So, do I just call up Microsoft and say I'm rebuilding or building a
computer and get xp pro oem or home oem for $5.00 plus shipping

And again the new oem rule is for windows xp and above not previous
version of windows. It says that in the new oem rule.

Remember, Walmart.com and other places are still selling xp oem with
hardware.

Are there any computer stores close to you in Indiana? If so, you can
purchase a piece of "non-peripheral' equipment and a copy of Win x64
OEM. If not, do a 'ZAT-00007' or 'ZAT-00008' search in Froogle for
online retailers that sell it legally under the same premise"

You can buy from anyone who is willing to sell you a legal copy.

Copies with the old licence - and copies with the old licence will be
available for some time in the distribution channel - may be bought with
qualifying hardware and can be used to upgrade an existing machine. The copy
is tied to the hardware with which it was bought.

Copies with the new licence may be used only to install on a new machine -
not to upgrade an existing machine.

It remains to be seen whether Microsoft can and will enforce the new licence
terms.

Dominic,
What do you mean by "new license"? Has M$ changed their license
agreement for OEM XP's recently? If so, can you point me to the updated
EULA.

Thanks,

I did a froogle and pricewatch.com scan, but ended up finding the best
price in a google ad of all things. Cost was $119 with free shipping

I suggest trying to download a program from Microsoft that requires
authentication once you have the OS installed. This way you can make
sure the software is authentic.

I personally will not deal with any entity that will not divulge their
full address and full names. What are they hiding?

If you're going to buy off the Web, use a reputable company and not some
fly-by-night outfit. You're just setting yourself up for a scam or
identity theft.

AGA Solutions Inc

was the shipping address, which basically matches their address on this

Regarding credit card theft, I've been hacked via sales from probably
what you would consider real internet companies. www.thenerds.net comes
to mind. I forget the other company, but it was one of the major
internet distributors located in Pa.

I got the CD rom from AGA in 3 days using priority mail. I'd use them
again.

??? That page gives e-mail addresses and phone numbers. From a phone
number it's usually very easy to find a street address, or of course
you could call and ask.

Compared to some much bigger operations, which don't even reveal e-
mail but require you to use Web forms, that page seems a model of
accessibility.
