How do I backup my contacts?

How do I backup my contacts? I am using Office 2000 Professional and have
already lost them when my system failed. What files do I need to backup in
order to restore if a rebuild or new PC is required?

The file you need to back up is your Personal Folders file (*.pst) It's
where all the mail, calendar, contacts etc are stored.
