how do i animate a shorter phrase within text

Here's one way, make the full text, select the shorter phrase, copy with
ctrl+c, paste on the slide with ctrl+v. Now leave a gap in the full text the
size of the cut text (you can use a tab stop to do it). Move the text in the
gap and align it. Now you can animate that part seperately. You could also
try to put the text on top of the other but that could be a bit tricky.
Another thing I use is the following, make your slide, duplicate it, on the
duplicate slide change the appearence of the shorter phrase. When you
transition to that slide it will look asif the text is animated.
Or draw a rectangle, apply the colour fill you like, put it behind the
phrase, and animate that.
I'm sure others will drop in with other ideas.

It's not clear exactly what you need to do. If its have just a portion of
