Frontpage seems to suppport midi and wave, but when I use wave, it sounds OK
on preview but doesn't find its way to the published site.

Did you import or copy and paste the .wav file to a location inside your web
and then insert it in the page??

I imported it into my MY MUSIC folder, then COPY and PASTE to FRONTPAGE, the
used PAGE PROPERTIES to select the wave file.

Can you post a link to the site?

Copy the wave file to the same location as the midi, and then use page
properties to add it to the page.

That's the way I did it originally. The wave file plays on the PREVIEW
screen OK, it just doesn't find it's way to the published site. I know it
got there, since I waited the eternity for it to upload to the server. I'm
using FRONTPAGE 2002. Would that make a difference?

How big is the wave file, and how long did you wait for it to play when you
opened the page on the server in your browser.?

It won't start playing until it has completely downloaded from the server,
unless you have the server set to stream the audio file.

For this reason, most folks don't use wave files in web pages.

If wave files are not recommended, what choices do I have, given the one
available in the PAGE PROPERTIES dialog box?

Midi or MP3 files as they are smaller and faster to download.

You can use a wave file but be advised they are larger and take longer to
start playing.

Thank you again for your expert help, Steve. I didn't know I could use MP3
files.
Problem solved!

Glad to help.
Expert is a bit of a stretch though.
