How do I add custom fields to my contacts?

Would like to add custom fields to my contacts page. Field like "2005 Sales"
Be nice if this field could be right on the "General Tab" for Contacts. I
have Office 2003 Standard and am using Business Contact manager for Outlook
2003.

The current version of BCM does not support the customization of fields or
forms.

Will the next version support the customization of forms or fields? No one
knows.

What we do know is that for over 2 years BCM has been a standardized, "1-size-
must-fit-all" application apparently regarded by Microsoft as good enough for
the targeted needs of small business users. After this much time passing I'd
like to either know what that target is or what they are smoking!

If you look in the BCM v1 database you'll notice table columns for
custom fields and picklists. Apparently they were there and yanked from
the product late in the cycle. Someone said on this newsgroup a while
back that removing them was related to the Outlook 11 forms cache
corruption bug. Apparently changing the fields trigger the bug. The BCM
v3 beta, for Outlook 12, supports custom fields and picklists.
