how do I add a calendar item from the contact list

I want to be able to search for a contact in the contact list then take that
contact (name) and add an appointment on the calendar directly from the
contact list.

I also want to know how to acess the contact list directly from the calendar.

Search for your contact, then drag the contact to the calendar.

I think this has come up before and I can't remember the solution off hand -
that creates a meeting invitation to the contact, not an just a calendar
entry. (At least it does in 2007....)

Right-click and drag instead.
