Hi there
When i turned my PC on for the first time i 'think' it asked me toregister XP and i clicked not to. I have know found out i need to activate my system from a friend but i cant find anything on my pc to help.
Did Dell activate it for me? When i first dialed out did it do it? do i still need to do it?

Is their any way to check if my system has been activated and if not how do i activate it?
Thanks

if you did not go through the process of activation then
it is not activated(does not do it automatically) when
your time is running out for activation you should get
another message.

It's possible that it was activated by the OEM. If it's
been more than 30 days since it was first fired up and
it's still working, it's activated. Registration and
activation are two different things.

Your information is incorrect.
Most OEMs, Dell included activate the computers they sell.
There is no need to activate this Dell computer.
If by some chance Activation was required, notices would be given.

Greetings --

Factory installed OEM versions are usually pre-activated by the
manufacturer prior to the computer's being shipped.

The OS will let you know, with frequent reminders, if you do need
to activate. To check for yourself, Start > All Programs >
Accessories > System Tools > Activate Windows. Alternatively, Start >
Run > "C:\Windows\system32\oobe\msoobe.exe /A." It will probably tell
you that WinXP has already been activated.

Don't worry--if your XP was not activated, you would be getting daily (more
like once every 5 minutes) reminders to do so from little pop-ups in your
system tray. You don't have to register with Microsoft in order to be
activated. Microsoft makes it seem like they are related, but it ain't so.

Somebody tell us if there is an exception to what I just said, but my
experience with XP activation is that it is very persistent with the pop-up
messages until you get it done, so I'm guessing that Alixen's system has
already been activated.
