When trying to open Tools>Security the box is not accessable. I've tried it
in Open Web, and Open modes but no luck. I'm sure it's very simple, but I'm
new at this. Thanks for any suggestions.

You must have a web open on a server via http and if a live/remote server, the host must allow you
to have access.

I guess I'm not understanding. When I go to the server control panel there
is no "Tools - Security" option. Neither is there if I got the http web site.
I inherited the job of maintaining this existing website. It was set up
with a sign in name and password. It got messed up and I'm trying to reset
it, but it doesn't work. I found the area on the server, but it doesn't have
"Tools - Security" tab option there. Sorry to be so dense.

Is this a live/remote server? In general you would not set anything on your local machine, as it
would not be published to the live/remote server.

What is it that you want to change/fix?

I believe it is a live/remote server, because when I make any changes to the
files the changes are immediate to the website.

There is a "protected" area on the website that only members may access. At
this point I did not publish that section as I couldn't get the password to
work.

You need to contact the web host or admin.

Thank you, Tom. I was hoping it was something really simple. I'll see what
they have to say-
