how do hide the user and passwords applet in control panel?
1) Open the Microsoft Management Console (MMC) via
Start -> Run...
Enter mmc in the "Open:" textbox and press return.
2) MMC opens Console1. In the Console1 menubar:
For Windows 2000, go to Console -> Add/Remove Snap-in...
For Windows XP, go to File -> Add/Remove Snap-in...
In the pop-up "Add/Remove Snap-in" window, press
the "Add..." button. Click on "Group Policy" and
press "Add". Use the default selection, "Local Computer"
Group Policy Object (unless you're configuring a GPO for
Active Directory, of course). Press "Finish".
Press "Close" on the "Add Standalone Snap-in" pop-up.
Press "OK" on the "Add/Remove Snap-in" pop-up.
3) Click on "Local Computer Policy" to expand it.
4) Expand "User Configuration".
5) Expand "Administrative Templates".
6) Click on "Control Panel". (If you just expanded it,
you'll have to click on it to see the settings in the
contents of the folder.)
7) Double-click on "Hide specified Control Panel applets".
8) Click the "Enabled" radio button.
9) Click the "Show" button next to "List of disallowed
Control Panel applets".
10) Click the "Add..." button in the "Show Contents" pop-
up.
11) On Windows 2000, type: Users and Passwords
On Windows XP, type: User Accounts into the textbox on
the "Add Item" pop-up. Press "OK".
12) Press "OK" on the "Show Contents" pop-up.
13) Press "OK" on the "Hide specified Control Panel
applets Properties" pop-up.
14) Quit Console1 in the MMC--you're done.
The Users and Passwords (Windows 2000) or User Accounts
(Windows XP) icon no longer is visible in the Control
Panel.
