How can you make the ''details'' view in Explorer ''stick''

I prefer the ''detailes'' view in windows 2000 explorer classic view.

Easy to set on each folder, but tedious as the ''like this folder'' option
does not work for this setting.

However, every so often ALL folders get reset to ''icon'' view, which is
a pain.

I can not find WHERE this information is stored - definitely can't find
a desktop.ini or similar file with all the data - 15 drive letters here.

Maybe, when I do a clean up, I'm deleting something i shouldn't.

Please, anyone know where this information is stored - and - how to
apply to all folders in one go

What happens if you logon as a new user? (create a new account in 'User and
Passwords'). Try a Safe Mode boot. Also try a clean boot.

Clean boot = no non-microsoft services at startup, no third party apps at
startup.

Explorer|Tools|Folder Options|View, then "Like Current Folder". You may also
need to uncheck "Remember each folder's view settings"

You may also have some conflicting extensions enabled.

Thanks,
but at present only use admin as setting things up.

Will try your suggestions, but this happens on THREE
machines (1 server and 2 pro win 2000) and have tried
all the folder option ideas, and some more! Will reply
tomorrow as I think this goes deeper!

OK. If it is a common issue then the default user profile may have been
damaged hence the issue propagates to all machine users.

Thanks
all sorted now
usually clear everything out of default user when doing
housekeeping as only use admin account. Believed it
was all junk, only used if another user than admin.

Didn't realise it was important!

thanks

Not clear what you did but glad to hear it's sorted.
