how can you get moving animations (.gif's) in powerpoint?

Animated gifs will only animate in show mode, not in edit mode. If you are
running PPT 97, they won't animate at all.

Dear Kathy,
Flash intro's can be animated with the control tool box.
Is there no way that simple .gif pictures be animated?

Animated GIFs are special files that contain multiple GIF images that are
displayed rapidly to give the feeling of movement, just like animated cartoons.
They are created in animation software such as GIF Contruction Set or Animation
Shop by Jasc.
