My guest book post someones message more than once when
you click. I tried it and it submitted it twice. Someone
else tried it and it submitted hers 4 times. I would like
to erase the dublicates.

Open the server version in FrontPage,
open the "guest" file and remove the entries.
Don't forget to Save the changes.

Where would I find the "guest" file?

If it is, the guestbook probably doesn't work
The guestlog.htm file should not be in the same folder as the guestbook.htm page,
but in the _private folder (which has write permissions)

PS
See http://office.microsoft.com/assistance/2000/FPDiscmgmt.aspx

| Sorry, You need to open your web on the server directly with FP, and the
| guestlog.htm file is in the same folder as your guest book page, not the
| _private folder.

When I did File Menu | New | Page | Guest book, FP place both files in
folder I was in, in this case it was the root.

Yep - it does that - bug in the template
All the templates should create their form results in the _private folder or they won't work
Strange thing is if you use a Web Template (say Corporate) it puts them in the right place

Most likely it would not have worked on my hosting service, but this way on
my local server.

Weird that it would actually write to a file that does not have write permission
- since it is just a "special" form using the FP SE
- and I don't see FP setting unique write permissions to the root (or folder) or that file
I suspect if you tighten permissions on the web it will break
