I teach foreign languages and always struggle with the fact that I cannot as
easily type foreign accents in Powerpoints as I can in Word where this is not
difficult at all. In Powerpoint I have to use the "Insert Symbol" function
for every accent which takes so much time. Does anyone have some advice on
how I can do this more easily?
Thank you!

Sadly the ctrl etc key shortcuts don't work in ppt. You can hold down ALT and
type the four fig ascii code on the numeric keypad but it's hardly faster.
Maybe you could "progamme" some combinations into autocorrect? eg a* = á

Thank you John, for your quick answer. Yes, I was also thinking about the
Autocorrect feature, but am unable (in Office 2007) to paste the accented
characters into the 'replace with' box, nor are they there if I select them
in my slide. How do I get them to show up there (I use a laptop and hence
don't have the numeric keypad)? Any hints? Thanks so much for helping me with
this!

Chouette, pay attention, that you only use symbols from "normal text". Any
other font may be formatted text in the view of Powerpoint and the letter
you wanted may be replaced by something different. Only Word can deal with
formatted text in Autocorrect.
