How can I successfully copy movies from a Sony Digital 8

I have been trying to copy some movies to Movie Maker using a Sony Digital 8
camera, the movies do copy but there is no sound and it doesnt allow me to
copy to dvd.
How do I get round this.
Any help would be appreciated.

You need to use firewire and capture to dv-avi.

Movie Maker has no dvd burning element to it, so you need to use another dvd
authoring app and burning programme. One should have come with your burner,
nero/roxio are the most common.

Thanks for reply.
I can copy to dvd when I use my panasonic minidv camera and it copies fine,
it just wont let me do it with the sony.
