How can I stop people from copying my info into another web page?

Recently I've noticed one of my competitors has been copying my information
by pasting it - word for word - into their web page. I've paid a lot of
money to have this legal information vetted and approved for posting on our
Internet pages and they have simply stolen it. Is there a way to block
someone from cutting text from our pages?

No.

Have your lawyer write a letter to your competitor threatening legal action
if he doesn't remove the plagarized material from his site.

No....but if you know who's doing it and you have legally and formerly
copyrighted it, sue them for breach of copyright.

There are many ways to grab the content of a web page, not just copy and
pasting. Since when viewed the site is downloaded to a user's computer,
there's nothing that can be done about it. A user can also "save as" an
html page to their hard drive, and open it in Frontpage or any other html
editor.

Hi Bing,

on the contrary of what people are saying! THIS IS POSSIBLE!
I was once on a musicdownloadsite and they blocked the website of ripping
text, background, etc, etc,
Everytime i tried it, i got a warning window popping up that the page was
secured and it was not allowed to copy anything.

But anyway why do you want to do this for? Afterall, info on the internet is
to be shared! You need to do it different...
Make an access-restricted website where people need to registrate themselves
before entering and when they do you can easily track them down if they would
rip your info. ( including competition.) Benefits!:
-info on visitors
-interestpols
-personalised commerce

Make sure you have your general conditions and terms accessible on your
website stating that the site is controlled by copyright. ( make sure your
copyright policy is shown on the first page where they enter.)

hope to have helped you

THIS IS POSSIBLE!
No, it is not possible, even though the site you viewed may have given *you*
that impression. Provide a URL, and I'll gladly deliver the site's content
to you.
hope to have helped you
Incorrect information is not only unhelpful, but you may have now misled the
OP into thinking he can *secure* his site.

"The wise man keeps silent about what he knows. The fool advertises his
ignorance."

- from the book of Proverbs

What you have just done is not only UNhelpful, but you have just, in
essence, bragged that you are ignorant, as your sole claim that this is
possible is predicated upon the statement that some other moron managed to
stop YOU from doing so.

The only thing worse than a person that knows nothing, despite the
incredible amount of free information on the Internet, is a person that
blithely spreads his ignorance while accusing others of being ignorant.
