Hello, everytime I turn my computer on and it boots up, it takes forever
because IE opens up and connects automatically. How can I shut that feature
off? I have AOL and I don't need IE to open up automatically. I am also
connecting using DSL. Help, I have tried searching in the tools but not sure
where to look. Can I turn it off?

Remove IE from your StartUp folder.(Right click Start and choose open. Then
double click Programs and then Startup. Delete the shortcut to Internet
Explorer.)

I have XP. Does that make a difference? Is it supposed to automatically open
up and connect when the PC is turned on?
Thanks.

I did that and when I click on Startup that folder is empty. Nothing there. I
have also clicked on start, run and typed msconfig for the startup in system
configuration and looked for it in there and I did not see it in there too.
Thanks.

And IE still loads at boot?

I've been having this same problem for over a year and have tried everything,
including checking my Startup folder. This problem (suspiciously) started
happening around the same time I started using Firefox almost exclusively.
Any other ideas on how to fix this would be greatly appreciated.

I am running Adaware and Spybot.....so I don't think I have spyware in my pc.
I think mine started around the time I installed my dsl software.
~Donna

Uninstall the software. Except for the slight possibility of ISP-supplied
modem-related software, you don't need any of it to use a DSL ISP.

Pardon my asking, but which software shoud I uninstall? The Adaware and
Spybot? I really am confused as to which one you suggested I uninstall.
thanks.
