I want to put some phot's on my web site, but i don't want people to be able
to download them due to copyright. How can I stop them being able to right
mouse click and save them to their pc?

Thanks

some bad news;
if they see it in their browser, it's downloaded.
There's literally nothing you can do to stop a determined person from saving
a copy of a picture.
your best bet is to make the images small enough and/or watermark them so
they aren't useful for anything.

Chris is right. Because of the way information is delivered to a
browser, any browser, it is not possible to stop a picture from being
saved. The picture is delivered as is to the browser by the server.
Applies to all browsers. You can do some things to slow down the
honest people from copying them such as creating your own right click
events (so someone cannot access the save as function from there).
Unfortunately the picture is already in a caching folder/file on the
machine that is using the browser. Someone fimiuliar with where they
are kept can always get to them despite your best efforts. In short,
the people who want to steal them are going to no matter what you
do.

Your best bet is to watermark the pictures prior to posting them. A
visible watermark deters people from stealing as it makes the picture
unusable for thier purposes or to much work to fix it. A watermark
that is invisible to the naked eye can be tracable should you need to
lodge a legal challenge to someone who is using your material without
authorization.

I know of no other methods for protecting yor work.

Sorry,

You can't stop image theft.

You can put in a stupid, no-right click script. It is easily
overcome. Might as well put a 'Kick Me' sign on your back
too.
Other ways to steal:
Save the web page
Retrieve from temporary internet files
Print Screen

What you can do is to make the image undesirable. This would
be done by using a low quality image or by an optical
watermark.

Hello,

Determined users can still get your images by File > Save As or by looking
at their browser cache or by View > Source.

Having said that, here are a few scripts that can help:

Disable right mouse click script II on images

(Remove the line "alert(clickmessage);" to improve the right-click
protection mechanism, as a user can press and hold the right mouse button,
press enter to the alert, and release the button to show the menu)

No right mouse click script III (no alert)

Hello,

Yes, there are many ways around it. But for less experienced users, it
does the trick.

Actually, it interferes with normal browser functioning for every visitor to
the site, with the only up-side being that it *might* slow down a small
percentage of thieves. I wouldn't call that "doing the trick".
