How can I set up an address book?

Can someone help a computer idiot and give info. (at least where to find it
myself) on how to set up an address book in Microsoft Word to later use the
mail merge feature? I've been stumbling around for some time now. Any info.
would be appreciated. I only saw the option for PowerPoint discussion group.
