how can i see deleted messages in IMAP

i just set up my webmail account on Windows Mail using IMAP and when i delete
a message, it appears to permanently delete it. how can i see these messages
and why arent they going in my Trash folder?

If you are a single user and always retrieving mail on just one computer,
configure your email as POP3..
