how can I search accross all files in a directory on my web

I have correspondence, meeting notes and various other docs on my web,
indexed by xls files with hyperlinks to the docs (which are organized by
folders). Most of the files are in pdf format and are searchable when I open
each individual file. How can I search multiple or all files within one or
more directories for key words on my web site accessed by IE? The web is
built by FrontPage 2002 and my server has FP extensions.
 
Is your site hosted on a Windows IIS web server with Index server.

You would have check with your web host for a solution since you hosted on Unix.
