Chris

Just had new computer with Windows XP, and just about
starting to learn basics. First major problem is how to
access documents / email attachments / spreadsheet
reports/ which were produced using windows 98.
Most of my contacts cannot open my recent documents now
that I am using XP ????
Any help would be so gratefully appreciated.
Thanks.

the OPERATING system which is what both Windows 98 and Windows XP are, has
no bearing WHATSOEVER on the format of documents. That is all down to the
particular application, whether Word, WordPerfect, WordPro or whatever, is
used to create them.

In addition to OP ... what is the exact error message? What programs
are you and your contacts using?

From what I have found, you can open previous versions of
office docs by opening the application (word, Excel, etc.)
then using file open. For some reason this works to open
office 2k files in office xp and office 97 in office 2k. I
hope this helps.
