how can i protect my server from intruders

hello please i need your help on how to protect my server from
intruders.am using window xp operating system as the os for the main
server.i have install spyware doctor and zone alarm but i still have
some problem with it.sometimes my net2phone call is not clear as it
surpose to be and sometimes the browsing is not fast enough.kindly help
me out.

there. There is far too much information about this subject to be
