How can I print to a .txt file?

I have programs that will print, but I only want to create a text
file. Is there a driver available (I think Win 98 had one) that I can
select for writing rather than printing?

Thanks in advance.

Check the "Print to File" box when the print dialog comes up, or you can
install a generic printer to use the "File (Print to File)" Port.

MS article extract:

How to Print to a Text File

To print to a text file:

Click Start, and then click Printers and Faxes.
Click Add a Printer, and then choose the following options in the wizard:
Click Local Printer.
Click to clear the Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer check box.
Click Use the Following Port, and then click FILE (Print to file).
Click Generic in the Manufacturer box.
Click Generic / Text Only in the Printers box.
Name the printer.
Click Do not share this printer.
Click No when you are prompted to print a test page.
When you click the printer in the Print dialog box, Windows prompts you for a file name.

Get ****ed in advance.

In the add printer wizard, select local printer and deselect automatic
detection.

Select File from the first drop down box.

On the next screen, select Generic as the manufacturer and Generic / Text
only as the printer.

Give it a name and decide if you want to share it or not, then print a test
page.

And get ****ed again.

If it was anyone else who had written that, I would have ripped their
****ing stupid heads off. He wants to create a TEXT file, not a freaking
file full of printer gobbledegook. Now, go outside and kick your dog.

We do not need that kind of language in this newsgroup.
It really shows how much education you have.
Not much. But you probably will not read this.
