How can I prevent calendar archiving along with Inbox?

I have my Inbox set to auto-archive, but that also dumps my Calendar items
into archive, which I don't want. I want my mail to archive every 30 days,
but I need to see a year's worth of Calendar at once. Even worse, certain
month's worth of Calendar info just seem to disappear completely - a major
problem.

And have you checked the "Do not archive this folder" radio button in
Calendar Properties?
 
Right click on the Calendar folder, choose Properties, click on the
Auto-Archive tab and set your desired properties there.
