how can I make Windows to remember Explorer and Open dialog toremember settings?

Hi

I want Windows to remember settings for Windows Explorer and Open
dialog. I set up Explorer to apply settings to all folders (Tools/
Folder options), but sometimes it shows me Lists, sorted by name while
I want details sorted by date with newest on top. Same applies to the
Open and Attach File dialogs. I do not know how to request system to
remember these settings (if there is a way).

any constructive ideas will be appreciated
