When I create a user in AD, how can it be set up so upon creation, a
user is a member of a group?

Thanks

Create a user account representing each of the common user-categories
you regularly create users for, this will be a template account (name it
accordingly). Configure the template account such that it is disabled,
all common properties are populated and it is a member of the desired
groups. When creating a new user account within a particular category,
simply right click the template that represents that user category
within Active Directory Users and Computers and select copy (note that
not all attributes are copied by default ... this is, however,
configurable should you need to do so).

Thanks Dean. Makes sense!

One tip with this in mind. If you use a name that has a character less than
a it will sort to the top.

Microsoft recommends using an underscore character _JohnDole. This will
also tip you off that it is a template account.
