How can I make a "trusted site"?

I get continual warnings from Defender (beta 2) about cookies or shell
folders associated with Earthlink's Total Access program (task manager). My
only options seem to be either "allow" or "block" in Defender. Defener
"HELP" says that I can select "Always Allow" to make it a trusted site.
Where is this function or dialog box in Windows Defender? I've looked in
every tab or pull-down menu.

Hello Basil,

Whatever you do, (installing and updateting or unistalling) always as a
adinistrator.

I think you may have to work at excluding it from the scan, as an interim
measure.

Tools, general settings, scroll down to advance settings, and hit the add
button.

When you make a change to one of those settings, there is a Save button
(save/cancel) at the very bottom of the window that should become
active--you need to hit that save button.

For the benefit of the community reading this post, please rate the pºsts.

I hope that (this) post is helpful.

Let us know how it works ºut.

Your suggestion works for a file that is identified by Windows Defender.

However, I get two items that are not files
("%userprofiles%\Applications\Earthlink...............) and
"HKCU.............plus a string of numbers"

I have no idea how to stop Defender from flagging these two non-file items.

You suggested that I try "Tools". "General Settings", Advanced Settings".

When I bring up Defender, "Tools", there is no "General Settings" or
"Advanced Settings" option. I see a screen headed "Tools and Options", from
which there are no choices that even vaguely resemble your suggestion.

That's the nature of a beta--the app changes under your feet. Things were
renamed.

Tools, Options, then scroll down using the scroll bar on the right to
"advanced options."
