HI everyone,

Is it possible to include a desktop shortcut to a show? I
have used the Pack and Go feature, which works great.

However, once the show is installed and run, the viewer
has to know where to find the presentation to run it again.

Is there anything I can add that would create a shortcut
to their desktop?

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Yes, but not using PPT. I often include this feature (and others) on CDROM
distributed presentations. The basics are you need to create an installer
(using installer creation software) that copies the presentation, the viewer
and support files to a newly created folder on the destination computer. The
installer software (I use InstallerVise) has options to create shortcuts.
Not an easy, or economical, solution for a 1x project, but it is possible.

No. But you can include text which will tell the user that..... if you
wish to make a desktop shortcut to this show, insert the CD in your drive.
In Explorer, go to that CD, find "watchme.pps" (or whatever file runs your
show). Right click it and choose Properties.... Copy. Now go to your
desktop, right click and choose Paste Shortcut.

Now whenever he want to view your show he can put in the CD and click on the
shortcut. You can also include text in case he wishes to place your PP
program on his hard drive to avoid having to insert the CD each time. In
that case, after having copied the contents of the CD to a folder on the
hard drive, use Explorer, go to the hard drive folder, find the file that
runs the program. Right click.... Copy. Go to desktop... right click....
paste shortcut. Voila1
