I like to set up a template for a presentation.

I have basically 2 welcome pages which stay always the same. but you
should not be able to select the items and mess with them.

then for the content I would have 3 sample pages which would be used as
needed. One with bullet points, one with text and one with a picture.

Is it posible to set it up in a way that you can drag the page you need
on to the page. Can it be saved into the "Change Slide" panel?

Thanks, Dimitri

Sounds as if you want to create your own layouts and add your own
placeholders. Unfortunately, we can't do this in current versions of PPT.
(But we can in PPT 2007, which is currently in beta. Yay!)

In 2003, your best bet will be to create sample slides for your users to
copy and paste and change the information on. You could also create two
different slide masters that look alike except for the bulleted text
placeholder on the slide master. You would resize and reposition that so it
is where you want the picture to be on that layout (because the picture will
be placed in the same area as the bulleted text placeholder on the master)
and where you want the "text" on the other (the text is really just a
bulleted placeholder without bullets).

Did that make sense at all? If not, holler back and I'll try to be a bit
more clear. :-)

An add-in could be written to do this sort of thing, but it'd be a non-trivial
project.

The simplest way of getting there is to include the slides in your template so
that any new presentation based on the template would include them. Then
duplicate any slides you need add'l copies of (ie by CtrlDragging them in Slide
Sorter view)

Thanks guys, that all makes sense and that's the info I got when I was
reading through some help on the net.

However, I hoped it can be done somehow.

I work on a Mac btw. and in the "Formating Palette" I have something
called "Change Slides".
With this tool, I can apply different designs to different pages. As
many different looks as you want.

Is there any way i can edit those slides, or save my design into this
panel?

Thanks, Dimitri

Ah. Well. In that case, everything we know is wrong. <g>

Though it's not obvious, this is an almost entirely Windows PPT group.
You'll want ask about this in Public.Mac.Office.PowerPoint, over on the Mac
side of the newsgroups. Mention which version of PPT you use when you post
there.
