How can I keep the transparency in a GIF when resampling it?

Using FP2003. Have some GIFs with transparent backgrounds. When I resize them
(make them smaller) they look blurry. So then I resample them and they look
much sharper, but then I get a white background. How can I keep the
transparency? Just don't resample?
Thanks.

Let me clarify. I'm doing my web pages in FP. The GIFs were already created
by somebody else and given to me to insert into my web pages. I would like
them to be clear AND transparent. Is that possible?

What image editor are you using to resize them??

Let me clarify. I'm doing my web pages in FP. The GIFs were already created
by somebody else and given to me to insert into my web pages. They're too
big. I insert them into FP anyway and then resize them there but that makes
them look blurry. So then I resample them and they look much sharper but
they lose their transparency. I would like them to be sharp AND transparent.
Is that possible?

(I also tried making them smaller using Photo Editor first and THEN
inserting them into FP, but they looked even worse doing it that way.)

Thanks.

Got that. Don't do images in FP. Do them in a graphics editor, like
Fireworks, or Photoshop, or IrfanView.

Resize them in one of those before you put them on the page.

And be sure that when you save them, the transparency option is ticked in
your image editor..
