I know how to download and join files from newsgroups so long as there
are no gaps in the segments I have. So I may have 001, 002 , 003.
However, it sometimes happens that some segments are missing. I
may have 001, 002, 004 and be unable to find 003 anywhere.
Is there a program that will joing segments when some segments are
missing?

Thanks

If the parts are missing then so are the links between each part. If
the file is binary, and a part is chopped out, the resultant file from
combining the remaining parts results in a corrupted file.

Tell the sender to repost the missing part.

Also, sometimes they post "par" (parity) files. These are meant
to complete and repair any missing or corrupted parts of the
file. Do a Google search on "par files" and you'll get a bunch
of pages about how to use them.
