How can I insert hidden graphics for hyperlinking

I want to hyperlink to other graphics from a common slide. These
other graphics have to be inserted into the presentation so that I can
jump to them only with the hyperlink. The images will not be regular
slides in the program
I will have one of my slides be a picture of a ballpark and each
position will be on the slide in text from which I wish to hyperlink
to graphics of each player (only to be seen) when clicked on from the
ballpark slide.
How do I insert the player graphics into the program? I can do it
linking to locations on my computer but I wish to give this program to
others and they will not have the graphics stored on their computers.
Sure would appreciate the how to do.
Thanks
Rellik

Is there a reason these pictures can't be on normal slides with
hyperlinks from your "menu" slide? The hyperlinks would be to other
slides, rather than to other files. If you put the presentation in Kiosk
mode, the user can't just click to get to the picture slides without
clicking on your hyperlinks.

If this doesn't work for you, you could use VBA to hide and show the
pictures.

David,
Are the slides inserted the normal way? What should be chosen when
hyperlinking to these slides (next? first? other?) Don't know how to
get into "kiosk mode"; my two books don't address this. How is it
done? Sounds like the result I am searching for; now to figure out how
to do this.
Thanks

You might want to look at a Web site I created to guest lecture for a class. It was created for PowerPoint 2000, but most of the stuff is the same:

http://www.loyola.edu/education/facstaff/marcovitz/rs879/powerpoint.html

You want to look at the sections on Hyperlinks and/or Action Buttons. My book also discusses this, but it is a very small portion of the book (the book mostly deals with using VBA to make presentations interactive).

Basically, you can hyperlink (with a text, a button, or any object) to any slide you want. If you select some text, choose Hyperlink from the Insert Menu. The details of this depend on which version of PowerPoint you use, but you basically want to choose a place in this document. You will have choices for first slide, last slide, etc. One of your choices will be for Slide.... This is the choice you want. It lets you choose a specific slide.

Let me know if you need more details.

Hello,

Allthough there are workarounds, perhaps you would like this to be a lot
easier to do in PowerPoint.

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that it's important that
PowerPoint provide this kind of functionality, don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

As with all product suggestions, it's important that you not just state
your wish but also WHY it is important to you that your product suggestion
be implemented by Microsoft. Microsoft receives thousands of product
suggestions every day and we read each one but, in any given product
development cycle, there are only sufficient resources to address the ones
that are most important to our customers so take the extra time to state
your case as clearly and completely as possible.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

John,
Does Microsoft have any target date yet on when they will roll out a new
version of PowerPoint? Will there be a PowerPoint2004?

Bobby,
MS just introduced PPT 2003 sometime last summer. There will be no PPT
2004 for Windows but they are introducing PPT 2004 for the Mac right
about now.

Hi Bobby,

PowerPoint 2004 will be released "in the spring." Although today is the
first day of spring, Microsoft has not settled on a firm release date.

You can get a sneak peek at some of the new features at this URL:
http://www.microsoft.com/mac/default.aspx?pid=office2004Demo
Click the "launch demo" link in the center of the page. The demo requires
MacroMedia Flash version 7.

PowerPoint users will be especially interested in the new Presenter view.
