How can I get rid of inserted picture lines

Hi all - PPT 2002, WinME

I have a picture in a rectangle with a Stretch Entrance animation action
which fills the entire slide, with a 7 sec timing for the full fill of the
slide, set to After Previous. I have also inserted a picture that is to sit
in the middle of the slide with a Fade action, with a 15 sec timing, also
set to After Previous.

'k.. what I am trying to accomplish is a to show a family group picture with
the Stretch picture, which I have modified to show just the extended family
members on each side of and Altar, and then I want to superimpose the 50th
Anniversary picture of the parents in the middle, so that they sort of Fade
into the space between, and blend in with the rest of the extended family on
each side. See?

So far, everything works as I want, except, there are distinctive lines that
appear where the picture with the Fade action, which sits in the middle of
the slide Stretch picture, and I would like to be able to get rid of these
lines, so that when the picture in the middle of the slide just fades in
seamlessly, and blends in with the rest of the slide background picture. I
tried using a triangle and insert the picture into it, but, it still had
lines I can't seem to find a way to get rid of. them. They a spoiling the
whole effect.

This is my first try at this, and I am also new to some of the 2002
features. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me where I need
to look to find how to remove the lines, or perhaps how to set them to
transparent. Or, if there is a better way to do what I am trying to do.

Best regards,
Jan :)

Jan, this sounds like a job for Photoshop. In Photoshop you could extract
the parents from the second image and add them to the first and do any
needed touch ups, etc. Then you would have two images and all you would
need to do would be to fade from one to the next. If this sounds like what
your are trying to do you could send me the two photos and I could take a
shot at it. Just so everyone understands, this is not a service that I
would offer to *just anyone*. Jan's special. <VBG>

I will need to get back to you with the sample in a day or so. I am using
my backup PC as we are on evacuation standby alert because of the brush
fires that are surrounding the Santee area on 3 sides at this time. We had
fires descending down the nearby hills toward us in a 180 degree ring, not
more than a mile away in all directions. The wind changed, and the fire went
back over the hill, but, it is still moving and still intense. The on-shore
winds are now beginning to blow in our direction again, so we don't know.

I removed the hard drive in my primary machine just in case, as all my
family and important records are on there, although I do have much of it
backed up on CD's that I also have packed, there are some recent files I
did not have time to backup to CD's. So, I don't have the file to send you
right now. If luck holds, and we know we are in the clear and out of
immediate harms way, I'll put the hard drive back and then I'll send you
the file to test.

Right now it is snowing ash, almost like a soft winter snow, and..actually,
almost beautiful....but, the smoke is like dense fog, thick, heavy, and
oppressive, so that means the fires are not that far away, even though the
smoke is too thick of us to see them. Just the bright eerie orange glow in
the dark, which seems to engulf the whole sky in all directions. Right now,
the entire San Diego area is surrounded from the mountains, from Orange
Country to the other side of the Mexican border by fires. Many of the major
highways and freeways in and out of San Diego are closed in one or both
directions. Miramar Marine Air Station sustained severe damage from one
end to the other. Whole sections are totally leveled. So far, 15 people have
died in the fires, and the count could go much higher when they get into the
rural areas. There are only two main streets in or out of Santee, and only
one open freeway access that are now open. All others are shut down in all
directions. We are literally in a fire ring. Power is sporadic due to the
fire storm movements. But, we'll be ok...'cause...well...I'm just not gonna
allow it to be any other way. ;-))

Just so everyone understands, this is not a service that I
would offer to *just anyone*. Jan's special. <VBG>

LOL!!! Lord have mercy!! Well...thank you..that's really very kind coming
from such super special lady herself...;-)))

I'll be back with you soon...one way or another...after all "The (slide)
show must go on!" <VBG>

Jan :)

Get yourself somewhere safe!! I know you are just trying to take your mind
off it, but don't wait to be told to get yourself and your parents out of
there. I heard from my sister tonight too. She and her family are not in
danger at this time, but those winds can change the picture so fast.

Well...I've been trying...I have a room reserved at a TravelLodge in a safe
area of El Cajon, the next city over from us not threatened by the fire, at
least not yet, and it is only a couple of miles from here, and we can get
there by surface streets...but, ....well...daddy just won't leave until they
say we have to, and momma won't go without him, and...I can't leave them.
But, hopefully, the wind will shift again, they have at least died down ...

If it gets more serious for your home, whip out the guilt-trip on Daddy.
Make him move his be-hind, because daddies are sometimes far too stubborn
for their own good.

Good luck out there.

Hi all...just a quick note to say we weathered the night ok...winds did
change. We got power back just a little while ago, trying to check in with
all that I can before it goes down again. The fires are burning up
electrical substations, wires and generators that are in their paths, so,
power is iffy. Just wanted to let you know we are ok so far while I can.
Since most of the entire SD area is socked in by smoke and ash, and most of
the roads, highways and freeways in our area closed to all traffic, there is
really is no where to go right now anyway. At the moment we are ok....

Thank you all for your good wishes, we really do appreciate it very much.
And yeah.....momma says Hi ;-)))

Jan :)

Glad to hear all is ok. Sending prayers and good strong thoughts for rain
from here in Phoenix.

Hi Sonia and all!

Just to let you know we made it, we are all A-OK now. We woke to gray skies
this morning instead of mustard yellow, but, we have overcast clouds but no
smoke. Supposed to get some drizzle and maybe light showers in some areas
today.

The fires in our immediate area appear to be snuffed, as least as far they
know for now. The air is clean and we were able to go outside this morning
for the first time since last Sat. We have to use bottle water for a while
as the reservoirs and lakes are all contaminated from all the garbage, but,
we have plenty on hand, so it's not a problem.

Sonia... I'll be unloading the vehicles later today, and it might take me
another day or so to get things back on order, but, I'll send the two photos
on to you as soon as I get 'ol Bess back together and fired up again. Boy, I
can't wait either...I forgot what it was like to have to use this 'ol
dinosaur all the time. It's s--o--o s--l--o--w ...Ugh!! :-))

Thanks for sending us some of your rain Kathy J, it will really help clear
the air for us. We are supposed to get some drizzle and maybe light showers
over the next few days. We have some additional donations of that coming
from Montreal, London and a few other current wet spots around the world.
<g>

Thank you everyone for all your good wishes and support, we appreciate it
very much. Hope you'll forgive me if I don't say they 'helped to keep the
home fires burning', but, that they really did 'help keep the spirits high.'

I thought it was the spirits that were supposed to keep YOU high.

Then again, you don't want to go waving anything inflammable about, do you?

And not to be too much of a pessimist, but are you clear of any possible
mudslides? With all that ash and no ground cover, it could be bad in some
areas if it rains hard.

LOL! While clearer heads needed to prevail over the past week, truth is,
after we got the clear notice for our area last night about 9:00p, I did
have a glass of wine, and got a full nights sleep for the first time since
last Sat. ;-))
Then again, you don't want to go waving anything inflammable about, do
you?

Oh...no no...no way...that's why I made sure I got the top back in the wine
bottle good and tight, just in case. Our neighbor brought us this little
bottle
he got on his vacation to Greece a couple of weeks ago as a thank you gift
(we fed his fishing worm bed while he was gone). It was called Oopsie,
Ozzie, Ozone...something like that, a native wine to Greece of some sort.
Hmm...funny, I can't remember now. Sorta strong, but, not bad for wine.
And not to be too much of a pessimist, but are you clear of any possible
mudslides? With all that ash and no ground cover, it could be bad in some

Yeah, actually, we are in a bit of a valley, and our side of the hills
didn't get burned up too terribly bad, so we won't really have to worry
about mud slides more than normal. But, most areas all around us
where the fires were sure might, especially in the mountains and the
canyon and hillside areas of the severe fire zones. Will all the layers
of ash and soot, it would not take much to set the landscape to moving,
and that is a real concern for many residents that were lucky enough
not to lose their homes to the fires, but, may still lose them to the
mudslides.

Well...today is my birthday, and it is the first time in my life that I ever
got my Birthday Wish. Now.. I am really glad that I did not use up all the
others. ;-))

Jan :))

So glad to hear you are safe! That is great news!

And, while it may not be your birthday anymore by the time you get to read
this, Happy Birthday - Many More - And Safe wishing. After all, this year's
wish did so much good that you just earned a ton of great karma!

(Oh, and your air may be clean, but that is only because you sent all the
smoke this way. Been terrible out all day. They say it will clear up again
by Sunday, which means we are the usual three days behind you in weather.)

Thank you for all the great the B-Day wishes. It really was a nice day. But,
instead of the usual bonfire cookout at the beach, this year I opted for the
Habachi on the patio. I've kinda had enough big fires and smoke for a while.
;-)

Oh my...sorry! Well...I wondered where it went....??? We did get some rain
yesterday, but, it seemed to sorta fall all around us. We ony got a few
drops here. But then, we didn't need it as much either. :-)

Jan :)

It's such a relief to know that you finally had some rain.
Only hope, much more of that is on its way
BTW a late Bday wish to you Jan

Thank you so much for the B-Day wishes. Now my B-Day is really complete!
It just started to rain here where we are, and it looks like gold dripping
off the awning. :-))

Hope to see you much more often, it's really great to have you here again.

I finally got 'ol Bess back up and running and have e-mailed you the copies
of the photos you asked for to test in Photoshop. Hopefully, they are of a
quality that you can use.

Thank you so very much for your time and help, I truly do appreciate it.
