How can I find my IP address -- not the internal dhcp assigned, the pppoe ip
address (I have a dynamic IP from DSL)

Thanks

1. Open XP's "Help and Support Center".
2. Click on the Task titled: "Use Tools to view your computer information ..."
3. Click on "My Computer Information".
4. Click on "View general system information about this computer".
5. Your IP Address will appear under "General Computer Info".

Hi,

Ask your ISP or check your router configuration. Being as it is dynamic, it
will change periodically.

It seems people always make things harder than they have to be. Open command and open run and type this and type that. For your present IP address simply right click on the two little computers in your system tray (beside the clock in the lower right, usually) then click "status" then the support tab and your IP Address along with the "subnet mask" and "default gateway" are all found here. Simply pointing and clicking is far superior to remembering what needs to be typed. }:~)

Your idea is good unless the option to "Show icon in notification area when
connected" is not enabled. This setting is not enabled by default therefore
one can assume it is not present.

And although those with dial-up connections may choose to enable
that option, it's probably rare than those with always-on
connections (DSL, Cable, etc.) do.

ipconfig /all (network connections property details) will not give you
the IP address of a DSL/Cable modem when the PC is querying from
behind a DHCP enabled router. You'll get your router IP (Default
Gateway/DHCP server), you'll get the DNS server(s) from you ISP,
you'll even get the DHCP server assigned IP for your PC, but not the
modems IP.
