How can I "fill" the web page in full screen mode?

Clarify my question/request:
On IE 6.0, some sites my new computer only shows the
page on the screen using only 3/4 of the screen. Where the
same site would fill the entire screen on my older
computer.

What do I need to do to get a "full" screen again?

I am at the "full screen" mode but the page "within" on
some sites are not filling the page and it only takes up ¾
of the full screen.

Any fix?

Are the gaps even around the entire screen, or is the gap on top, bottom,
left right? Do you have this problem with any other programs on your
computer? Also, please confirm- this only happens on SOME sites - not ALL
sites?

Are you at the same resolution as you were on the old computer? Or have you
raised that?

In other words, were you at 800x600, 1024x768 or 1280x1024 on your old PC,
and then (direct relationship) you go to 1024x768, 1280x1024 and 1600x1200
on your new PC?

Not all web pages "stretch" to fill the entire screen. They are made to
either be a percentage of the window you have or they are at a fixed width.
Are you sure what you are seeing is not a result of web page design vs.
screen resolution/window size?

For example:

http://www.cnet.com/
Fills up only a fraction of my screen at 1600x1200, but keeps it centered.
Large gray areas appear on either side of their yellow borders.

http://www.pricewatch.com/
Fills up almost all of my screen from right to left, not dependent on my
screen resolution or window size. It does, however, start to wrap text if
the window gets too small or the resolution too low.

http://www.techbargains.com/
Does something very similar to pricewatch, but fills the entire screen (left
to right) at all times.

http://www.hotmail.com/
Fills up only the left portion of my IE window. Leaving an enormous (at
1600x1200) white area to the right of the actual content (not to mention
below it.)

It generally sounds like a screen resolution issue to me. Control
panel>display properties>settings tab> adjust to a different setting
e.g.1024 x 768, or other setting> apply>OK out.

Also, what happens when you use your F11 key? (full screen / normal/ full
screen)
