How can I enter phone numbers without setting up a connection?

Everytime I enter a phone number for my contacts, the wizard pops up and say
that I have to establish a conncetion and when I try and cancel that or say
no, Outlook will not respond and I have to shut it down.

Is it trying to connect to the Internet or just have you setup your modem
properties (Outlook uses some of the TAPI properties when setting up things
in contacts)

My internet connection comes and goes here but it is not trying to connect.
It asks me questions like the area code I am in now, if I have to dial a
number to access outside line, which I don't, and it asks if we use pulse or
tone dial here. When I hit cancel, it says that it needs telephone
information about the location from which i am dialing.

I have not tried. Like I said our internet comes and goes and I don't want
it to go away completly. I am not sure what to enter in the fields or
anything like that.

It asked me for a specific carrier code and what the number was to access the
outside line. All I did was enter the area code and it seems to be working.
Do you think i will have any problems with it?

Thnk you very much, it works great. Do you know about colors of holidays in
the calendar? I want to be able to bold, or use another color, of the date
navigator calendar. As it is right now, the only dates that are bold are the
ones I have appts. scheduled for. Is there any way to have the holidays show
up in bold or a different color?

Many businesses have switchboards or PBXs that require a person to dial a
digit (like "9") in order to obtain an outside line. Home users rarely need
this, so enter nothing. If you have a carrier code (like 1010-220 for long
distance), enter it. If you just dial a "1" for long distance, just leave
it empty.
