If you double click the programs item in the Start Menu a
window opens displaying the contents of the programs
folder. Is there are way to disable double clicking
folders in the start menu so a window doesnt appear?

I don't know offhand, but there are several options to restrict start menu in Group
Policy/user configuration/administrative templates/start menu - taskbar. --- Steve

Thanks Steve, I checked through the entries you suggested
but there didnt seem to be one that would do the job. Any
other ideas?

Not offhand, you might want to try posting in the Group Policy or registry
ewsgroup. --- Steve
