Is there a method I can use to restrict viewing the local drives of an XP
workstation from Internet Explorer? I don't want a certain segment of users
to have the ability to browse the system32 directory and run commands from
there.

Thanks

If you restrict access to the Windows\System32 folder for running programs, your users may not be able to do much of anything on the computer.

I understand that, but what I want to prevent is the ablity to view the
directory and run the command.com opening up the ability to do other things.

if these users are all in the same OU then create a GPO that denies
running the binaries you don't want those users to run. Or you can
modify the permissions on the files but that would be more involved.

Assign specific permissions to the files in question, not allowing the user to run them.
