You can automatically logon, although in a domain environment you'll have to
tweak the registry to get the options available in the GUI. Let me know if
you need the keys - you can do it all via the registry but then you are
leaving a password in plain text in the registry. The better way is to
modify the autoLogon key and then go back to Control Panel\ Users and
configure this there. The options differ slightly depending on workgroup or
domain.
You can also disable the 'password protect the screen saver' option or auto
lock or whatever it is called (the names changed with XP).

I would like to be able to boot up my computer, and/or return to my desktop
after PC has been sleeping, without getting the Windows Lock (sign-in box).
Is there any way to eliminate said box and log-in?
