How can I delete an outgoing message that says it's in progress

I made the mistake of sending an email with 11mb and now it's stuck in my
outgoing mail. No matter what I do I cannot delete it, and it's making me
crazy because it keeps giving me error messages trying to keep sending it
again and again.

HELP!!!

I have the same problem. I followed the directions on the link below, when I
got to the step to delete the message, I still was unable to delete it. When
I double clicked on the message to try and open it I got a message that says
"Can't open this item. Outlook has already begun transmitting this message."
What should I do now?

Are you sure Outlook is in offline mode?

Yes, on the bottom of the window there's an icon that says "Offline" and on
the file menu there's a check mark next to "Work Offline".

Did you follow the procedure for creating a new PST and making it the
delivery location, moving to it everything from the old PST to the new one,
except for the undelivered message? That's guaranteed to work, even though
it's an fairly involved process.

I created a new PST and nothing happens when I try to delete the message.
Also, when I open the outbox a notice appears:
"Business Contact Manager
! Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040114. "

Maybe I didn't create the PST correctly? What should I do?

Thanks,
Gabi

Just creating a new PST isn't sufficient. You have to make that new PST
your delivery location and then stop and restart Outlook. Since a new PST
won't have anything in its Outbox, since you will not have sent anything yet
after having made the new PST the delivery location. You can either then
delete the message from the old PST's Outbox and switch the delivery
location back to the old PST or you can move everything in the old PST,
except for the contents of that PST's Outbox, to the new PST. Were I doing
this, I'd choose the former.

I think i did set the new one up as the delivery location, it's listed first
in the folders and when I try to send out a new message the new message
appears in the new outbox.

After letting this sit on the back burner for over a month - I just kept
outlook offline and used webmail instead - I just now tried to delete the
message and finally it's gone!

weird, annoying occurence - glad I can use outlook again though.

HI Guys,

I made the same mistake. But the solution is much simpler than what everyone is saying to do. Simply right click on the send/receive folder at the very bottom right of the outlook folder. It may say "preparing to send/receive" and has a folder icon with a piece of paper going into it. Select "cancel send and receive" and then dimply delete the email.
