My ex DC appears again in AD Sites and Services. When i
try to delete it i got the message "The DSA object cannot
be deleted"
Also, in Directory Service log i have following message
every 4 hours "The checkpoint with the PDC was
unsuccessful. The checkpointing process will be retried
again in four hours. A full synchronization of the
security database to downlevel domain controllers may take
place if this machine is promoted to be the PDC before the
next successful checkpoint. The error returned was: The
DSA operation is unable to proceed because of a DNS lookup
failure."
I think both these things are in the relationship. Am I
true? Anybody helps me?
Thanx

Hi Vekkas,
Actually , it is like this .
To remove a dc from the AD you just have to move all the FSMO roles to another server and do a demotation using dcpromo. If you experience any error and you still have any entrys inside the AD about the DC you demoted then you should do a metadatabase cleanup.

Actually, as allways and due the grateness of Microsoft you will find lots of KB on both demoting and meatadatabase cleanup in the technet.
