I have currently two workgroups in my network environment
and I'm only using one, but the old one stays in the
system. How can I delete the old workgroup?

Workgroups really aren't something that can be deleted.
Not in the sense of a data file at least.

A workgroup will exist as long as there is a computer that
is configured to be part of that group. Find the computer
that is creating that group and change the network
settings.

.....and note that it can take some time for the empty workgroup to
"disappear" from the browse list, but it eventually will.

Oh come one you know what he means! Why be a a-hole. The
old workgroup will disappear after some time. In a peer to
peer network of windows machines each machine has a cached
list of network ids.. if you go to your command prompt and
type in nbtstat -c you can see this list. It may take
awhile for all the lists to get sorted out because there
is no centralized domain controller.. try using nbtstat -r
on your machines this might get rid of it faster. hope
this helps :)
