How can i copyright or make it difficult to download pics?

#1 Anything published to the web is automatically
copyrighted
#2 All you can do is make it difficult or undesirable to
copy your information:
- No right click scripts are easily defeated and make you
look like an amateur
- Best thing to do is to optically degrade the image, making
it undesirable

Yes have thought about that, but then it also makes the website look cheap,
webcam quality is ideal to deter but then perhaps if I was to setup a members
area that is password protected then it would at least reduce the
undesirables. Or is there ways round this as well?

...or use a watermark generator that does it on the fly

I've seen where the image is sliced into many pieces. The image is still
there, but makes saving it more of a chore.

But it is a real pain in the neck to watch! Don't do that either.
Carefully resize and optimize your images in you image editing program and
then don't worry about it. If they are less then 100 kb each they aren't
worth much to copy unless into another site ... and you can't control that.
Watermark them in your image editing program also.
See many previous posts about this.

picture-shark
and even IrFanview do watermarks, fast and easy

One of the projects is an aspx page which loads and
watermarks the image when called by the webpage. The actual
image on the server is untouched

What good would that be? Couldn't one just follow the path to the image and
snag the unwatermarked one?

You would have to know the path to do that.

Suppose the link to the image looked like this -

example.aspx?imageID=32313

? 8)

I know less than zilch abt asp or aspx.

Well, I know slightly more than zilch about asp, but much less than you
about ASP.Net!

I'm just saying that a link like that is often used to retrieve image
filenames from databases - so, how would you follow that path? Point is,
you really can't.

Otherwise, your comment is on target...

ah yes now the veil is lifted...sorry, it's been one nebulous day after
anudder lately.

The would only work if the image is actually stored in the database.
